  • Screen defendants for initial bond hearings to obtain information on the defendants' community ties, employment, drug and alcohol use, mental and physical health and criminal history.

  • Assess the risk of flight and possibility of re-offending.

  • Provide supervision with conditions as an alternative to jail.

  • Serves as a neutral collector of information, advocate of diversion or alternative sanctions, and a behavioral monitor when performing the role of supervision.

  • Ensure that all defendants are treated in an equitable manner by the courts by providing objective and relevant information to the judges so that they may then make well-informed bail decisions.
