Screen defendants for initial bond hearings to obtain information on the defendants' community ties, employment, drug and alcohol use, mental and physical health and criminal history.
Assess the risk of flight and possibility of re-offending.
Provide supervision with conditions as an alternative to jail.
Serves as a neutral collector of information, advocate of diversion or alternative sanctions, and a behavioral monitor when performing the role of supervision.
Ensure that all defendants are treated in an equitable manner by the courts by providing objective and relevant information to the judges so that they may then make well-informed bail decisions.
